Amazon Dolphin

A refined riverboat offering luxurious private cruises in Brazil’s Tapajós region for larger groups.

Overview

Named after the elusive and enchanting pink river dolphin—a creature steeped in Amazonian myth and mystery—the Amazon Dolphin is as graceful and captivating as its namesake. This grand 108-foot riverboat, the flagship of its fleet, offers an extraordinary way for up to 22 guests to explore the remote Tapajós region of the Brazilian Amazon in comfort, style, and privacy.

Just as the boto (as the dolphin is known locally) is said to guide travelers through the hidden waterways of the forest, so too does the Amazon Dolphin invite you on a journey into the soul of the rainforest—where jungle symphonies lull you to sleep, sunrises shimmer on glassy blackwater rivers, and every day reveals another layer of wild, breathtaking beauty.

Life On Board

Spread across four decks, the Amazon Dolphin provides 11 air-conditioned ensuite cabins, offering privacy and restful sleep, as well as diverse and inviting indoor and outdoor social spaces which make it easy to socialize or unwind as you succumb to the rhythm of life on the river. Alongside you at your beck and call, every step of the way, the exuberant and experienced crew will share their warm hospitality and vast knowledge of the region, with every small detail taken care of to awaken your adventurous spirit, in the sweetest and gentlest way.

On the first deck, you’ll find a master suite which is only available for charters (or upon special request) due to it only having porthole windows, and two standard ‘bunk’ cabins (double bed below and single bed above), while the second deck features another slightly larger master suite—this time front-facing with panoramic windows—and four more standard cabins, as well as the elegant, air-conditioned dining room where guests share unforgettable meals prepared with fresh local ingredients.

The third deck which features four additional bunk cabins—two of which interconnect and are ideal for families—is the heart of social life on board, with its spacious indoor bar lounge equipped with sofas and the adjoining semi-open balcony common area to the rear of the boat. At the very top, the open panoramic deck offers uninterrupted views of the Amazon’s majestic landscapes—perfect for sunrises, sunsets, stargazing in the silent wilderness, or simply watching the jungle scenery pass by.

Itinerary Options & Highlights

The Amazon Dolphin explores the pristine waters of Brazil’s Tapajós and Arapiuns rivers, regions famed for their mirror-black waters, white-sand beaches, and stunning biodiversity, providing a proverbial playground for adventurous Amazonian pursuits, from sunrise birdwatching and jungle hikes to visits with river communities and lazy afternoons swimming in freshwater lagoons.

Thanks to its size, the Amazon Dolphin is perfect for larger private events, retreats, or multi-family adventures, with space to host both shared activities and moments of solitude. All itineraries are customizable and supported by knowledgeable guides who reveal the ecological and cultural wealth of this extraordinary region.

Aboard the Amazon Dolphin, you’ll feel the grandeur of the rainforest unfold with each passing bend in the river. Whether gathered with loved ones over candlelit dinners or quietly watching pink dolphins surface at dawn, every moment is infused with wonder. The boat’s elegant design and expansive decks create the perfect setting for reconnection—both with nature and one another.

Ideal for large families, celebrations, or transformative group journeys, a cruise aboard the Amazon Dolphin offers a rare blend of remote immersion and refined comfort in one of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth.

Note: If your group is a smaller or larger, the Amazon Dolphin has two smaller sister boats—Tupaiu (4 cabins, up to 8 guests) and Belle Amazon (8 cabins, up to 16 guests)—which can be chartered instead or in addition.

Itineraries & Prices

All itineraries are subject to change due to seasonal weather conditions (and resultant variations in river and tributary water levels) affecting accessibility to locations. Thus navigation routes, times and excursions may need to be modified at the cruise captain’s or your guide's discretion.

Embarkation

PM: Starting at 12 noon, we will board passengers from Alter do Chão and Santarém. To welcome you to the confluence of the forest with the vastness of the waters, we will stop at a charming beach on the Tapajós River.

Everyone is invited to take the first of many refreshing dives into the Amazon in Pará. From the green waters of the Tapajós, we will sail towards the white waters of the Jari Channel, part of the same ecosystem as the famous Amazon River. Because it is a nutrient-richer river, we can hear and observe the diversity of birds and other animal species. Get your camera ready: river dolphins may show up and swim alongside our boat. As we travel through this lush nature, we are rewarded with beautiful views of both varying shades of water and rich wildlife.

After toasting with local fruit drinks as the sun sets across the Amazon skyline, we will proceed to the black waters of the Arapiuns River surrounded by a sky full of stars.

You will taste the delicious cuisine of Pará served on board in typical appetizers and dishes prepared by our team.

AM: Waking up every day to a different dazzling view of the Amazon - that is one of the delights of sailing with us. With the boat moored off a small white sand beach in front of Atodi Village, we will depart for an immersion in the primeval forest, guided by its guardians. The topic of the day is forest medicine, which will be presented to us along the hike and then we will see a demonstration of how plants and barks are used in the preparation of medicines.

The trail ends at a beautiful igarapé ( small river creek) of crystal-clear waters. We will return to the boat to rest, have lunch, and have free time to enjoy a bath in the river.
