ARCC Tours
Due to its remote location, tours to the Amazon Rainforest Conservation Center last a minimum of five days (four nights) starting from your reception in Puerto Maldonado airport, and if you have the time a longer stay is worthwhile, to make the most of the available activities and the wildlife spotting opportunities these afford. The standard program is six days (five nights) allowing a full range of activities. The seven day (six nights) tour allows you to sample all the offered activities and to repeat favorite activities, and longer tours can be arranged on request. Depending on river conditions and flight times it is usually necessary to break the outward and return journeys on the Las Piedras river with an overnight stop at Tipishca Lodge.
At ARCC, the various activities can be programmed to suit each individual group and to make the most of the time you have available. Most days will follow a similar structure: an early morning activity, followed by a leisurely breakfast and then another activity such as walking the forest trails. After lunch there will be a siesta time before the afternoon activity and then dinner with occasional night excursions. You can select from the following activities; the program is flexible and favorite activities can be repeated if time allows:
- Early morning visit to a macaw clay lick.
- Ascend to canopy tree platform.
- Catamaran tour of Lake Soledad.
- Guided walks on forest trails (several different walks available).
- Guided night walk.
- Night time caiman spotting trip on Lake Soledad.
- Conservation work egg. mahogany tree planting.
The programs in summary are as follows:
Arcc 6 Days, 5 Nights (Standard Program)
Day 01:
- Met by guide at Puerto Maldonado airport (time depending on flight).
- Transfer to river.
- Boat journey to Tipishca Lodge (lunch on boat).
- Evening meal and night at Tipishca Lodge.
Day 02:
- Boat journey to ARCC after breakfast
- Lunch at the centre
- Afternoon and evening activities at ARCC
Day 03:
- Full day activities at ARCC
Day 04:
- Full day activities at ARCC
Day 05:
- Full day activities at ARCC
- Departure ARCC - boat journey to Tipishca Lodge
Day 06:
- Departure Tipishca Lodge- boat journey to Puerto Maldonado in time for onward flight to Cusco or Lima.
