Tipishca Lodge Introduction
Tipishca Lodge is a remote, purpose-built eco-lodge located 80km (50miles) up the Las Piedras River, in southeast Peru. The lodge is situated just steps away from the pristine, wildlife-rich LakeTipishca, and is surrounded by majestic tropical rainforest.
Tipishca Lodge was built with the participation of native Piro Indians, and tours to Tipishca allow the Piro indians to share their knowledge about the forest, their customs, lifestyle, food and crafts.
The Piro indians are experts at spotting wildlife, and a guided walk with a Piro guide allows guests to see a variety of local wildlife, the most popular species with guests include red howler monkey, brown capuchin monkey,
and squirrel monkey, white throated toucans, red and green macaws, parrots and other birds. The wildlife highlight at Tipishca is the lake’s resident family of giant otters, which can be observed from the lakeside or on a catamaran tour. The guides are also knowledgeable about medicinal plants and forest lore.
Tours to Tipishca include transport from the nearest town, food, accomodation and a knowledgeable guide. Small group size is guaranteed.
The centre is well appointed and cared for, providing comfortable accommodation in raised palm thatched bungalows with private bathrooms, electric lights and hot water.
